Marianne and Tiko met back in 2000 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA but didn’t start dating until 2012. Back in college a crush developed and what might have been an opportunity – a date auction – actually turned into a missed one. Marianne wanted to bid but “chickened out” when a fellow sorority sister started bidding. “Girl Code” made her back off and Tiko didn’t talk to her for a week after the auction. They stayed friends and after a few failed attempts to reconnect the “what ifs” never went away. Finally in 2012 they connected when Tiko moved to the same area as Marianne following graduate school. He asked her on a date as soon as he got to town and the rest is history.
Tiko took Marianne up to DC for a day trip on his birthday weekend. Being that he is from the DC area Marianne had no suspicions. While talking around the Washington Monument, she asked Tiko if he got everything he wanted for his birthday and he said “well there is one more thing.” At that time he pulled out the ring and asked her to be his wife. They shared their excitement with friends and family the entire drive home.
You may remember their engagement session was on the blog in January from their fall engagement session at Keswick Vineyards. They returned for their Keswick Vineyards wedding in mid April. On what might have been the best weather day we’ve ever had out at Keswick Vineyards, they were married around the fountain with their closest friends and family observing. Even though the leaves weren’t out on the vineyard yet – the industrial look of the vines backed by the blue ridge mountains made an amazing backdrop. The tuxes of the guys mixed perfectly with the elegant nature of the bride’s dress and blush colors of the bridesmaids. Highlighted by silver and gold accents their wedding day was as beautiful as their love story.
Congratulations Marianne and Tiko! I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
